Join the folks at the West Seattle Tool Library on the second Monday of every month from 6pm to 8pm. With a whole lot of tasks to keep the Tool Library up to speed, our library shop can always use a hand. Stop by to help maintain our tool collection and fix up the shop. Support a great resource for the neighborhood and exchange hours with shop hours. Email or come in for more information.
Stop by the West Seattle Tool Library on June 12 between 9 am and 2 pm for our Grand Opening!
Be there at 12:30 for the ribbon cutting and pizza from Red Star Pizza!!
You’ll be able to see the entire collection, check out tools, see tool demonstrations and even donate more tools if you haven’t had a chance to clean out your garage yet. All donations are tax-deductible.
The Tool Library is located on the North end of South Seattle Community College (at the horticulture area). For more information about the West Seattle Tool Library, including hours and other details, visit http://www.sustainablewestseattle.org/tool-library.

If you have any tools sitting around dormant and would like to put them to good use in the community, we invite you to donate them to The West Seattle Tool Library during the CHOSS Spring Start Sale on April 17th at the South Seattle Community College Garden Center.
To thank you for your donation to this exciting community resource, The West Seattle Tool Library will buy a free CHOSS veggie start for the first 75 people who contribute a qualified tool during the Spring Start Sale. (Limit one per person.) As always, all donations to the Tool Library are tax deductable.
Only two requirements for tool donations:
- they must be in working order; and
- non gas powered.
Join Sustainable West Seattle and other community groups this Saturday at West Seattle Nursery to enjoy some complimentary appetizers, espresso, and listen to an array of great speakers. The newly-established West Seattle Tool Library will also be on hand and eager to accept any donations of tools you might like to contribute to this exciting community resource.
In support of the Tool Library project, West Seattle Nursery will offer all customers a full-day, 20% discount coupon on all regularly priced purchases to anyone who makes a tool donation. Just drop your tools off at Sustainable West Seattle’s information table to receive your coupon. There are only two requirements: the tools need to be in working order and cannot be gas-powered. Other than that, The Library would love to help you clean out your garage and put some dormant tools to good use in your community!
We look forward to seeing you there! If you any questions or comments for the West Seattle Tool Library please feel free to send them to email@example.com, or visit the “Get Involved” (sustainablewestseattle.org/get-involved/) section of the SWS website for more information. If you can’t attend and have questions or if you’d like to volunteer, please contact Gary Lichtenstein at (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Tues. March 9th at Uptown Espresso, at Edmunds, just south of the Alaska Junction. We are starting the very important work of developing our operations manual, procuring tools and other important tasks to get our West Seattle Tool Library ready for a Late Spring launch. We are looking for folks to help out on this effort. Our working group meetings are open and welcome your participation. If you are unable to attend the meeting, please contact “email@example.com“, if you are interested in participating
Sustainable West Seattle’s own Stu Hennessey is featured in an article in today’s Seattle Times that talks about the benefits (and sometimes difficulties) of sharing resources. We encourage you to read the whole article which mentions many ways you can share in an “effortless, logical, efficient and all-around helpful” manner.
Thank you again Stu and the others featured in the article for taking a “risk”, sharing, and providing positive role models for us all.
Also, don’t forget that Sustainable West Seattle is starting a large “sharing” project in the form of a Tool Lending Library. Please check out our get involved page with more information on how you can help get this and other projects moving here in West Seattle.
The Tool Library Project team’s next meeting is 7 pm, December 8, Tuesday evening, at the Uptown Espresso, corner of Caifornia and Edmunds/Erskine.
