What is a Timebank?

It’s neighbors exchanging time to help neighbors. At its most basic level, time banking is simply about spending an hour doing something for somebody in your com munity. That hour goes into your Timebankaccount as one credit hour. You then have a credit hour to spend on having someone else do something for you. All hours are valued equally.

The West Seattle Timebank was started three years ago by five, dedicated West Seattle residents. TheTimebank now has 150 members. The Timebank partners with local, non-profit agencies and businesses by offering agency’s volunteer opportunities to the Timebank members. Hours spent volunteering with partners can count as Timebank hours.
