The West Seattle Candidate’s Forum will be held at the Brockey Center on the campus of South Seattle Community College at 6000 16th Avenue SW, in the Delridge area of West Seattle. All city and county council candidates, school board candidates, and referenda representatives will appear before an active and engaged community of West Seattle citizens and service organizations at 7:30 pm on Thursday, July 28th.
The event begins with a 6:30 pm ice cream social fundraiser for the West Seattle Food Bank, featuring candidates serving up Husky Deli™ ice cream and chatting with constituents; followed by a performance of the Dangerettes drill team squad. Finally, the forum itself will consist of a debate-style format in three parts — part 1 Referenda and Port Commission candidates; part 2 City and County Council candidates; part 3 school board candidates.
Representatives from the county elections board, and community organizations such as Neighborhood House and Sustainable West Seattle will be on-hand to answer questions and provide information about community resources. Free on-site child care will be provided, and translation services are available in Spanish, Somaali, Chinese, Russian, and Vietnamese.
