Feedback Needed: New Directions for Community Centers

The Seattle Parks and Recreation Department is exploring new directions for community centers and now invites Seattle residents to weigh in on options

In response to challenging budgets, Seattle Parks and Recreation has been asked by City Council to re-think how community centers are operated. Over the past five months, ideas for changing how community centers are run have been developed with the help of a citizen advisory team. Now it is time for the broader community to weigh in on several options that have been suggested.

Seattle Parks will hold two community meetings. The public is invited to attend and hear about the latest options for re-thinking our community centers.  The meetings will occur in the North and South ends of town:

  • Thursday, June 16
  • Jefferson Community Center, 3801 Beacon Ave S
  • 7 – 8:30 p.m.

The draft options for changing community center operations will be available June 8 at all community centers and on the Seattle Parks and Recreation web page at http://seattle.gov/parks/centers/operations.htm.

Those who are unable to attend the meeting are invited to complete an online survey that will be posted on the web (same site as above) beginning June 8.
