On April 9th, the West Seattle Tool Library will host a Grand Re-Opening after moving from South Seattle Community College to its new, expanded location at Youngstown Cultural Arts Center, 4408 Delridge Way SW.
The larger space at Youngstown will allow for The Tool Library to greatly expand its collection, as well as open a 500 square foot community workshop/ makerspace with all the basic shop essentials such a tablesaw, bandsaw, mitersaw, drillpress, jointer, and many other shop tools.
Grand re-opening festivities will run from 9:00 am. to 2:00 pm and include tours of the new space, demonstrations by Tool Library members, snacks and beverages.
The Tool Library will also be hosting Ask an Expert, a monthly community forum for DIYers to connect and chat about their projects and also receive some great advice from local experts on topics such as Green Building & Architecture, Urban Agriculture, and Solar Power. Visitors are invited to sign up for a membership or donate tools in good condition.
The library’s hours will remain the same for the time being: Saturdays, from 9:00 a m to 2:00 pmand Sundays from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, although the workshop space will be available for rent by request at other times.
The Youngstown Cultural Arts Center, located at 4408 Delridge Way SW, is home to a wide variety of arts and nonprofit organizations, attracting a steady stream of West Seattle area residents attending dance classes, watching theater productions, or taking community education classes.
