Community Orchard of West Seattle (COWS) is holding its next free workshop this Saturday, April 16, from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon.
The topic is Grow UP!
Trellises, poles, arbors and props make the most of the growing space above even the tiniest garden plot. They also add dynamic interest and punctuation to any planting.
Join Community Orchard of West Seattle for a quick, hands-on, easy DIY workshop exploring simple garden structures and training devices crafted from bamboo, twigs, and standard hardware store materials.
The instructor is Lorene Edwards Forkner, local West Seattle author of growing and canning your own vegetables and fruit. Location is the Community Orchard plot located at the southeast end of South Seattle Community Campus, immediately north of the Riverview Playfield.
A post-workshop work party will continue from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm and will focus on creating simple trellises for beans, and installing sturdy trellis for intensive apple planting.
