One of the action teams that formed at the Aging Your Way gathering in Southwest Seattle back in September concerned access to medical care, particularly in the event of a natural disaster.
As people age they become more reliant on medical care, so it wasn’t surprisingly that this issue came up at the Aging your Way Gathering. We subsequently learned that this concern goes back many years with various efforts to create a hospital district that would support a bricks and mortar facility in the community.
The Hospital Without Walls Action Team is hosting a community meeting on Wednesday, December 8th from noon-1:30 at the Delridge Community Center, located at 4501 Delridge Way SW. The purpose of the meeting will be to check in with the wider community about the concerns we heard at the gathering and then go from there.
A soup and salad lunch will be served and Jim Diers will facilitate the community meeting. An effort is being made to invite the major health care organizations in Seattle to the meeting, so they can hear the concerns directly.
RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org so that we have enough soup and salad.
