Join regional leaders and West Seattle residents Saturday, November 6, at 2010’s Gathering of Neighbors, hosted this year in the beautiful new Chief Sealth International High School, 26th Avenue SW & SW Thistle Street.
This year’s event will feature the historical breadth and diversity of neighborhood groups, local businesses, non-profit organizations and community leaders as resources for individuals and families to dialogue, discover resources and get involved with what’s happening in West Seattle.
Former Seattle mayor and CEO of the Seattle Foundation Norm Rice will deliver a keynote address on neighborhood empowerment, with an introduction by Principal John Boyd, who will share the collective vision for the new Chief Sealth International High School.
Gathering of Neighbors also kicks off Seeds of Innovative Leadership, a West Seattle-wide capacity building program offered by Delridge Neighborhoods Development Association in partnership with Department of Neighborhoods, the Delridge and Southwest Seattle District Councils, and the West Seattle Chamber of Commerce. Seeds of Innovative Leadership aims to best serve Southwest Seattle residents to provide forums for dialogue, skill-building workshops, informational sessions and opportunities to support a truly representative community body of neighborhood leaders. Your input and insight is essential!
Co-sponsors West Seattle Blog will conduct a workshop on Social Media & Citizen Journalism, and DNDA will host a conversation on local food systems and food security with excerpts from the film “FRESH.”
