Join Sustainable West Seattle at our next Community Forum, this coming Monday, June 21, 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, at the Senior Center of West Seattle, 4217 SW Oregon Street, right around the corner from California Ave. SW & SW Oregon St.
What can be done to stop the corrupting influence of existing campaign finance rules from damaging our democracy, and preventing us from implementing the policies we need to build a sustainable future for our families and community.
How can we act to mitigate Climate Change, reduce pollution of the Puget Sound, eliminate toxic waste and resolve the many other issues that face us when large donors can swing votes with their money? Why does it matter?
We’ll be joined by Washington Public Campaigns to discuss how public campaign finance affects sustainaiblity efforts in West Seattle.
Upcoming Sustainable West Seattle Community Forums
Beekeeping – Did you know that it’s OK for you to raise honeybees in the city of Seattle? Having your own bee hive means that your garden will be very well pollinated, you’ll have a lot of fun, and probably end up getting more honey than you know what to do with. It’s a very rewarding hobby, and will forever change the way you see the insects around you. So what does it take to keep bees, and how much does it cost? Join representatives from the Puget Sound Beekeepers Association as we learn about the Basics of Beekeeping. 7:00 to 9:00 pm, West Seattle Senior Center, 4217 SW Oregon Street, around the corner from California Ave. SW at Oregon.
Summer Potluck! – Join SWS for our Annual Summer Potluck. We’ll set up the grill and have some plates and basic utensils, so you just need to bring your favorite foods and drink to share with your neighbors. We’ll have representatives from the Seattle Urban Forestry Commission on hand who will talk about tree management and the urban forest in West Seattle. 6-8pm, Camp Long Nature Center – 5200 35th Ave SW.
